I never thought that I would ever say this, but I’m obsessed with the color gold right now. It might be because it is a trending holiday color in both decor and beauty or it could be because my favorite football team’s color just so happens to be old gold (and they are doing great this year!). But I’m literally loving it. So much so that this week’s nail color is gold inspired. Now when it comes to gold, I am a bit particular. Since I’m new to adding gold into my wardrobe, I’m sticking with what currently appeals to me and that is the antique, bronzy gold rather than the high shine, yellowish gold.
To get this week’s nail color I used the following nail colors which can be found at most drugstores:
- Sally Hansen: 110 Wedding Glitters
- Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Fast Dry Top Coat
- Essie:162 Ballet Slippers
- Spoiled: 069 I Have No Reception
I first applied 3 coats of Essie Ballet Slippers. This color is very sheer, which I is why I applied three coats. But if you like a sheerer color, then stick with two. Also I chose this color because I thought the cream complimented the gold nicely. Unlike a stark white nail color, when paired with gold a cream color looks feminine and flirty, love the combination. After I applied my base color, I then applied Sally Hansens Wedding Glitters to half of my accent nail, my ring finger, and along the top and side of my thumb nail. Once dried I covered the entire accent nail, my ring finger, with a very thin coat of Spoiled I Have No Reception. To my thumb nail, I just applied Spoiled to half of my nail. I wanted to give the gold of bit of sparkle but also some contrast with the silver.
I love the end result and it reminds me of all the colors I’m loving this holiday season.
