A bathroom is one of those frequently used areas of our homes. It’s a retreat and a necessity so shouldn’t it look inviting? In our home we have small bathrooms so I don’t have a ton of space to play around with. However, something as simple as changing a shower curtain can instantly give a new look and feel to this small space.
As a Walmart Mom, I was asked to refresh a room of my choice. Many rooms immediately came to mind: my deck, living room, bedroom, or kitchen. But I settled on freshening up my master bathroom because it was in desperate need of a little TLC. Normally when we want to spruce up our home we pick one of the other rooms that I mentioned without even thinking of our bathroom. With all these boys in this house, that bathroom is used a lot! So I went to my local Walmart store to see what products they had that could help me give a new look to this space.
Immediately when I thought of redoing the look of our master bath I thought of a new shower curtain. This is an obvious choice, right? It’s amazing how much just changing the shower curtain can really change the entire feel of the room. Since my master bath does have black and white tiles in it, I either had to pick a solid accent color or one that incorporated black and white in some way. Walmart had a nice selection of shower curtains to choose. I opted for a fabric shower curtain because they are easy to wash, which is a must do in a household of boys. I settled on the Better Homes and Gardens Fabric Shower Curtain in Tranquil Leaves because I adored the pattern. It looks crisp and clean with just enough pattern to keep it interesting all the while pulling in the colors of our bathroom, black and white with just a little shading of grey.
After choosing our shower curtain it was onto liners. Normally I would just use a cheap shower curtain liner from the dollar store but after having to gone through so many of them, it was time to look for a better solution. I was happy to find that Walmart carries a good variety of different types of shower curtain liners. Honestly, I didn’t know that there were that many to choose from. The price was budget-friendly too! I picked the Mainstays Medium Weight Shower Liner in Frosty for $5.88. This liner feels nice too the touch, heavy but not too heavy. It also looks well made. I’m hoping it will last us quite a while.
Last but not least, I opted for one accessory. I chose the Hawthorne Place Toilet Paper Holder for $6.. Before we were just using an old basket on top of the toilet that we would stack toilet paper rolls into. I like this idea, however our basket was brown and as you can tell there is no brown anywhere in our bathroom. Besides, I found that the basket on top of the toilet eventually just became a dumping ground for random products, toys, etc. It just wasn’t very cute so I knew I needed a different solution. I like the that toilet paper holder, sits up off of the ground yet stores 3 rolls so it doesn’t have to be replenished quite as often.
With just a few products from Walmart I was able to start a refresh our bathroom. I would love to add a bit more to this space eventually like some matching towels and a bluetooth shower radio just to name a few items on our wishlist. Also this room is painted yellow which is not the best color to paint a small bathroom because everything in there has a yellow tone to it which makes applying makeup a diva’s nightmare. I think the lightest grey color in the Better Homes and Gardens shower curtain that I picked up would be the perfect accent color for this room. What do you think? What color would you paint the walls in this bathroom?
