I have always loved the way that grandfather clocks look. There is just something about them that feels so, well welcoming. I remember that my mother had a small hanging grandfather clock on the wall in our childhood home. That is the same exact clock that I learned how to tell time on. That clock would always be working even if the lights went out. It was run on batteries and the pendulum that swung back and forth during our family dinners. I would watch that clock when I was in trouble. Counting the swings of the pendulum as it ticked away the minutes. I had to read for fifteen minutes a day when I was in elementary school and can remember always looking up at that clock to check to see if my fifteen minutes were up.
There is a blog post over at the grandfather clocks blog that tells of different ways that the grandfather clock means to certain individuals. For me a grandfather clock reminds me of my childhood. For others it reminds them of something else. What does a grandfather clock remind you of?
