National S’mores Day
Did you know that today is National S’mores Day (August 10th)? S’mores are usually synonymous with the great outdoors and activities such as camping but did you know you could make them anytime, at home?
sent me a s’mores kit with all of the fixings so my family and I could participate in National S’mores Day. We all know how to make a classic s’more, right? Two graham cracker squares, a bit of yummy Hershey’s chocolate (my favorite), and a toasted marshmallow. But have you ever tried to put a twist on the classic S’more? My husband is a classic s’mores kind of guy. I on the other hand prefer to switch it up a bit by switching out the classic graham cracker for chocolate graham crackers
. I’m a bit of a chocoholic, what can I say?
This was the first time that I’ve ever made s’mores outside of a campfire. I opted to use a toaster oven because it was quick, easy, and convenient
. Surprisingly it turned out well.
How-to Make S’mores with a Toaster Oven
On a small baking pan, that fit the toaster oven, I laid out 3 graham cracker halves and placed one half of a Hershey’s chocolate bar on each. With the other half of the graham crackers I placed a Jet-Puffed Marshmallow (ideally I would prefer to use the Jet-Puffed Stacker Mallows). After giving the toaster oven some time to warm up, I placed them under the “broiler” until they were nice and golden brown. (don’t walk away from the toaster oven as they brown very quickly) Once toasted I removed them from the toaster oven and put the two halves together. After waiting for a few minutes for them to cool, it was time to enjoy that chocolatey, gooey goodness that is a s’more.
Making s’mores in a toaster oven took me all of probably 5 minutes. It was super quick and super easy. Now I know what to do if ever someone in my family has a craving for a s’more and we are nowhere near a campfire.
