What is back to school time without a few First Day of School pictures? As mentioned, I finally got to take some photos of the kidlets for back to school. Since we homeschool, we don’t get professional pictures taken. Instead I like to take them myself.

When it comes to taking the kidlets first day of school pictures, there is one trend that I’ve seen grow over the last several years and that is to have the child hold a sign with what grade they are starting or something about school in the photo. This helps as a friendly reminder and a fun memory to look back on when they are all grown up.

This year, I chose to use these fun Picture Pennants from Moritz Fine Designs. Because they were quick and easy to print up. All I did was print the pennant in landscape mode for the grades that we needed and had the kids hold them on a clipboard as I took a picture overhead. I like that the number isn’t the main focus but their sweet little faces.

This is just one example of how to take a first day of school photo with a printable. I LOVE the idea that Go Graham Go came up with in her DIY Dry Erase “First Day of School” Picture Frame. What a fun craft that can be used year after year!!!! For more great ideas, do a quick search on Pinterest for First Day of School Printables it’s amazing how many ideas are out there.
