Mother’s Day is right around the corner. It will be here before we know! Now is the time to start thinking of a gift to give to Mom on her special day. As a part of the Walmart Moms, I was challenged to share a gift idea for Mother’s Day. One of my favorite gifts to give is a gift basket that I put together myself filled with all the things that Mom will love.

So, I went to my local Walmart store recently to pick up the items I needed to put together a beauty basket for Mom. The first thing one needs to do when putting together a gift basket is to find the perfect container. I found it a bit difficult to find just a plain basket so instead I opted for a pink plastic serving bowl for $1.98. Now that I had my “basket” to fill, it was time to hunt down some products that I know a Mom would love during her “Time Out”.

Immediately, what came to mind was a facial mask. After a long week, or just after a particularly long day I love nothing more than to chill out by applying a facial mask. Walmart carries a few inexpensive facial masks in their beauty department. I opted for the Facial Anti-Stress Mask with Dead Sea Minerals by Freeman ($3.27). Freeman is a facial mask brand that I’ve been using for a while now and I really like them. One can get several applications of the mask in one tube so it will last a while longer than a single use packet. Plus, the affordable Walmart price will beat going to the spa, any day. So not only is Mom getting more than one affordable facial but she can also apply them anytime in the comfort of her own home whenever she feels she needs a little extra pampering.

While Mom’s facial mask is drying, she is going to need something to do, right? For this I thought it would be nice for Mom to light a beautifully scented candle and curl up in her favorite spot to read a good magazine. This Better Homes and Gardens Peony & Rose Petals candle smells amazing at just $3.97. The magazine I picked up for Mom was All You for $2.99 but Walmart also carries a wide variety of different magazines as well as many best selling books. So one could pick up a book that has been on Mom’s “to-read” list and add that to the gift basket instead. To go along with the candle and magazine, I also thought that Mom would enjoy a favorite snack. Both my Mom and I love Hershey’s chocolate so I opted to pick up a big bar for $1.98 to add something sweet to our basket. Again, pick whatever your Mom’s favorite snack is or check out the bakery section at Walmart for some fresh baked goodies to add to Mom’s Time Out Beauty Basket. Also, I picked up an Aladdin 16 oz Mason Tumbler for $4.96 for Mom to sip on her favorite beverage while she relaxes.

Lastly, staying with the whole beauty theme I thought it would be nice to pick up a new nail polish and mini manicure set for Mom to do her nails while she is enjoying her Time Out. Sinful Colors, in my opinion, is a great drugstore nail polish. One can find this nail polish at Walmart in a variety of different colors and shimmers for only $1.98. Pick out a shade that you know Mom will like (perhaps her favorite color) and pair it with a mini manicure kit like the one I found at my local Walmart for just $1.48.

What are some of your gift ideas for a beauty basket for Mom?
