How to get a salon Blowout at Home like a Pro

I’ve struggled with my hair for years. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I really started paying special attention to my hair’s natural texture and looking for products that work well with my hair. I love to rock the sleek styles, but with naturally curly hair getting those results can be a bit of a challenge. Frizz is always my biggest concern and humidity can be a nightmare. Can the type of hair brush make a difference when blow drying?

Tools Needed for a Salon Like Blowout at Home

I was asked by the folks at KareCo if I would be interested in trying out some of their premium quality hair brushes. KareCo offers a variety of different professional products for consumers to use at home. I was sent the thermal round brushes to try out for myself. But how do you get that salon-like blowout at home?

I believe the first step to getting a salon like blowout at home is to start with good shampoo and conditioner that works well with your hair type and texture. I’m a HUGE fan of Clear Hair and Scalp Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner which has made the biggest change in the way that my hair looks and feels. After my shower, I also like to apply an all-in-one styling product.

With a good base, then you can start to find the perfect tools. Having long hair, I’ve learned over time how to speed up the process of blow drying. One of the ways to blow drying long hair faster is finding the right brush. I prefer to use a round brush when blow drying as it helps me to grab the section of hair that I am drying more easily. KareCo’s Round Thermal Brushes are ideal for this with heat resistant nylon bristles. These KareCo’s round brushes has specifically designed with a thermal and vented dome for faster drying time. KareCo’s round thermal brushes comes in 3 different sizes to match any hair length from short to long.

How to do a Professional Blowout at Home

Some Blowout Tips from celebrity hairstylist Mark Garrison, owner of the Mark Garrison Salon in NYC:

  • If you have fine hair that tends to be life-less, pre-dry hair 80% to get moist of the moisture out.
  • For volume, flip head upside down to get volume at the roots.
  • Work with sections no wider than the width of the brush.
  • Always heat at the root first to lock in “root lift”.

When I blow drying my hair, I separate it into 2-3 sections. With the concentrator nozzle attached to my blow dryer and a KareCo thermal round brush, I blow dry individual sections of my hair with the nozzle pointing down towards the ends of my hair until dry. I can definitely tell a difference in how my hair looks after taking the extra steps to section off my hair and blow dry individual sections with the nozzle of my hair dryer pointed down plus the use of the KareCo thermal round brush. When I blow dry my hair this way versus letting it air dry or trying to blow dry all of my hair at once, I noticed that my hair is a lot sleeker with very little frizz. I’m surprised that I don’t have to worry so much about relying on a flat iron on really busy days as long as I take those few, quick simple steps while blow drying.

What are some of your tips for a perfect blowout at home?

Disclosure: I was gifted with samples of the KareCo Thermal Round Brushes to try out for myself. As always, opinions are my own.
