One word I would use to describe Colton’s testimony is….Wow! I first heard of the book Heaven is For Real from my Mom. She had read it and told me that it was a must read. I brushed it off at first. But eventually I did pick up an audiobook copy from my local library. On a trip, my husband, kids, and myself all listened to it during the drive. We were all amazed and blown away by how powerful Colton’s story is. When I heard that there was going to be a movie made based on the book, I couldn’t wait to see it.

Imagine if your son or daughter began to tell you things about Heaven, Jesus, and past loved ones after undergoing surgery. Would you believe them? What would others think? That is the struggle that the parents of Colton has to endure as they try to both understand and believe what their son was telling them. The movie Heaven Is For Real really brought the book to life for me. I loved Colton’s story from reading the book but after seeing the movie with my family it really made it all seem real.

I think this is a great movie to watch as a family as it opens up so many doors to discuss what happens after this life. My boys were filled with curious questions and we spent many hours after the movie discussing all aspects of Heaven, Jesus, and Faith. My boys have already requested to see this movie again which is why I’m thankful that I was given a copy of the movie as a part of the Walmart Moms. Walmart currently has an exclusive edition of Heaven Is For Real on blu-ray combo pack that contains a special bonus disc for $36.88. I think this is a good movie to own as I can think of many instances when it would be good to watch and be reminded of this story again. This movie is a great way to explain to children that Heaven really is for real and what happens after a love one passes.

How to Create a Family Movie Night at Home

Creating the Perfect Movie Night at Home

I personally prefer having movie nights at home as it is not only more comfortable but also more convenient. It’s easy for us to have a random movie night with products from Walmart that we keep stocked in our kitchen. Some nights we like to have a movie night with dinner but our preferred way is definitely with popcorn. Instead of the bagged microwave version, we prefer to make popcorn that is as close to what we would get at a movie theater but with out the hefty pricetag. The best way that I’ve found to get movie theater style popcorn is with an air popper, popcorn kernels, and movie theater style butter all of which can easily be found at Walmart. We currently have the Presto PopLite Hot Air Popcorn Popper that we have had and used for many years with no problems. It’s a great, budget-friendly air popper that is not only reliable but produces great air popped popcorn. However, now Walmart offers popcorn poppers in beautiful colors to match any kitchen theme or even nostalgic type poppers for a more retro feel. For our popcorn, I typically pick up a bag of yellow popcorn kernels and store them in a glass mason jar with a flip top lid from an old parmesan container (thank you whoever on Pinterest came up with this idea, because it’s wonderful!). To get that butter movie theater taste, the best I’ve found is butter flavored popcorn topping oil. You can add as little or as much as you want and it tastes very similar to a trip to the movies.

As far as other snacks go, we definitely can’t watch a movie without some candy. The salty buttery popcorn pairs perfectly with sweet, creamy chocolate. Did you know that Walmart sells boxed candy similar to what you would find at a movie theater? The best part is that each box of candy is only around $.97 which is definitely a much better price than a trip to the concession stand at the movie theater. Also, now Walmart carries bags of unwrapped candy like my favorite Buncha Crunch and my husbands favorite movie snack Snickers Unwrapped Bites. These larger bags are great as they are resealable and are perfect to grab for multiple movie nights or for any snack time for the matter.

I keep seeing the OnDemand commercial for this movie, and every time I see it, I want to watch the movie. In the clip when the lil’ boy describes his baby sister…that was very intriguing.

As much as we talk about what happens after this life, Heaven is for Real made everything more tangible for my kids :-)
